BIO:

Jy-Mel Coleman is a former Jamaica international and current Halifax Panthers assistant coach, widely respected for his longevity, leadership, and contribution to the growth of Jamaican rugby league. Born in Leeds, West Yorkshire, Coleman enjoyed a 14-year professional playing career across clubs including London Skolars, York City Knights, Keighley Cougars, Dewsbury Rams, Hemel Stags, Newcastle Thunder, and Hunslet. Over his club career, he made 195 appearances, scoring 52 tries and 182 goals.

Coleman made his international debut for Jamaica in 2011 during the Rugby League World Cup qualifiers in Philadelphia against South Africa. He went on to represent the Reggae Warriors 13 times, becoming one of the nation's most experienced and influential players. He later featured in the squad for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.

Since retiring from playing, Coleman has transitioned into coaching, serving as assistant coach at Halifax Panthers while also holding a coaching role within Jamaica Rugby League, helping develop the next generation of Reggae Warriors.

He describes his greatest achievement as having his children, Savanna and Cooper, witness him overcome adversity to play on the world stage at the 2021 World Cup.
